| - I went on Hotwire and scored a $65 room which turns into $84 with fees n'stuff.
I requested a room near the pool since it was Labor Day and the place was looking dead. The woman at the front desk noticed my Hotwire booking and put me a good walk away from it in a dark room - call it 2 blocks. I'm happy because it has a small 'living room', mini kitchen, and a nice bedroom for this price it's great even if they're not excited about booking through hotwire. I have a funnier story about my Alamo rental car through Hotwire and the guy literally said "Hotwire doesn't care about their customers, but we at Alamo do" LOL. I think him being out of country missed the memo on how to nuance that.
Beautiful place, nice big waterfall in the center, Excellent Breakfast, good Coffee.
I went to the restaurant to grab a bite and the barkeep, Tracey, told me immediately that if I wanted to get a "manager's reception" drink then I needed to order it on one side of the bar, because in no uncertain terms was she going to go the extra 2 feet to deliver this free cocktail. Another hilarious travel moment. She then told me all about how much she didn't want to be there - well Tracey, I don't want to be here either. She went on and on about how she should have called off ahead of time and then told me about ordering a free drink at the other bar several more times. I ordered an IPA not on the manager's reception list and ordered some food. She was a little bit nicer, still complaining, at least it was conversation I suppose.
The manager's reception food was a pile of crackers, some of those tasteless veggies you buy from the grocery store and 3 huge plates filled with dip. A Chili dip, Blue Cheese, and French Onion. They ought to change the name to the Janitor's reception - makes more sense and no offense to Janitor's around the world.
After the meal I went for a swim in the pool. There were several lights out so very dark like swimming at night, and the water was cloudy with chemicals. Even after a scrubbing shower I smelled like the pool. Glad it was there - better than no pool.
With experiences like these it's hard to rate - kind of sucked like they're going out of business, however, a good bed for $80 n'nat.
