| - I was considering not writing anything, but after my Water to Wine run on Sunday, I needed to. This is in regards to the Calistoga Ultimate Wine Run.
Heat and water. Yes, weather cannot be controlled. Water supply can be. Organizers should have put out more water stations (the .5 and 2.5 mile stops are not enough in 100 degree heat) and actually had enough water. If it wasn't for the neighbors handing out water and hosing us off, you would have had many, many more people needing medical attention. Not ok from a safety standpoint.
Parking. Who actually charges for parking? I have never attended a racing event where we pay for parking. Is this because you couldn't fill the event and had to cover your overhead somehow?
Discounts. I was one of those unfortunate people who actually paid FULL PRICE for this event. Another in my group actually reached out to you after seeing so many discounts offered to see about a refund and were told no. What did I get for my $40 ticket? A trail on a dusty track and hot asphalt, minimal water, one minuscule pour of wine (not even a standard 2 oz tasting pour), a race that started 45 minutes after the stated start time, a shirt and a glass. Then we go back to the $10 parking. Let's recap what I received at the race I did this past weekend. For $45, I got a nice wicking shirt, unlimited tastes of wine and beer, actual bib tracking to know my time, clear and consistent communication, a race that started on time, and a goodie bag. I'm sorry, but WHAT A RIP OFF.
I ask you to consider issuing myself and my husband a refund for this utterly appalling event.
