  • Last Monday the battery in my Samsung S7 was swollen. I took the phone to Best Buy, where I had purchased it (upgrading a previous model with the same problem & purchasing the Geek Squad service plan), only to be told that the Samsung desk was closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, and that the associate who handles phones couldn't do anything for me, except sending me over to the Geek Squad desk. Here is where the real run around began. The "Geek" who came out, insisted that we needed an appointment, after taking my phone and placing it on a back shelf (there was no one in line at the time), and proceeded to lie to me about being able to recover my data, and told my husband that there was no memory chip in the phone. He told us that "no one would connect the phone (which still worked) up to recover anything no matter how important the information was. He, also, told us we would need to make an appointment at which they would order a special box to send the phone to Samsung...it would be a couple of weeks and I would loose all of the data. When ask if we would be better off going to AT&T, he told us that they wouldn't help us. We took it to AT&T, who offered me 2 solutions 1. at no cost I could have its replacement sent overnight to me; or, 2 I could upgrade and walk out with a new phone with all of my information ported over. I selected the 2nd solution (which was one I had asked the Geek about.). I walked out of the AT&T center with my new phone and all of the data from my old one intact, as well as, the memory chip the "Geek" had told my husband didn't exist.
