  • BTW, it is now called Rotella Gallery and is located in the Palazzo shops. They show the works of three photographers. We loved looking at the fine art photos in this gallery and the staff was very nice. They show videos you can watch, too. We felt the best photos were done by Art Wolff which were fabulous. Everything is beautifully presented in the gallery. Everything is incredibly expensive. Ok, so now comes the next part. We bought a large photo, chose a frame, showed a photo of the space where we wanted to put it (I happened to have one on my phone), etc. The whole thing cost almost $8,000. It took about 2 months to get, which was expected, no problem. We received it and then hired a professional hanger to hang it. The frame we chose looks great, photo is beautiful. Ok, now the problem begins. The acrylic they used over the photo is so incredibly shiny that you can hardly see the photo for all the reflections off the acrylic surface. This is true day or night, lights on or lights off. It is shinier than glass, almost like a mirror. I can see myself standing directly in front of the photo and also see anything on the wall behind me. As a matter of fact, you see WAVY reflections from the waves in the acrylic surface...the wavy reflections even undulate as you walk by the photo. Kind of makes you seasick. Lol. Importantly, this glare/reflection was not the case in the gallery version of the photo, nor did the gallery discuss or give options on the acrylic to be used. We were told this gallery uses a UV-protected product called Acrolyte so I looked it up on the internet. I noticed that Acrolyte has both a regular and anti-glare version of their UV-protected product. They should use the anti-glare product or at least give the buyer a choice. So I called the gallery and was transferred to the manager/director, Tony Caravale (pardon spelling). He kept saying was he has never heard of this problem before. He said he would talk to the people who do their mounting/framing and he asked me to email him pictures of what I was talking about. I did that yesterday afternoon (same day). As I'm writing this, I just now got a call from Katie in their corporate office.and they will take the photo back to redo it. Thank god. I'm so relieved as I really did not want a fight on my hands. We kept all the packing materials and will repack it this weekend, their shippers will pick up on Monday. So far so good. Knock on wood. My only advice for now is make sure you get them to confirm the potential glare/reflection issues and exactly what product they will use on your order before you buy. Personally, I think someone used a different product than what we saw in the gallery. I will follow up here on this review with the final outcome of this matter.
