I have never taken the time to write a Yelp review but feel compelled to do so after the exceptional experience I had with Crash of Rhinos Painting. I have been in commercial construction for over 20 years and hire contractors in a number of trades regularly as part of my business. The level of professionalism and quality of the finished product provided by Crash of Rhinos Painting exceeded my expectations for a residential contractor and was on par with the best contractors I have ever worked with in my commercial experience. If you are an out-of-town owner you can't find a better resource for having the exterior of your home painted as I will explain below.
I live in Orange County, California and own a rental property in Mesa. I solicited several painting companies over the phone to paint the outside of the two story house and perimeter wall. After making an appointment with the tenant, Mike Ricker, the owner, personally went to the home and took a comprehensive video of the entire bid walk. He provided a link to view the video the same day. The video included a detailed narrative of the work that needed to be performed including repairs and other recommendations. Mike was the only bidder to provide this level of service just to submit a proposal. Furthermore I was impressed that his pricing was inline with the other bids. I was expecting it to be more. The proposal included a detailed scope of work including paint product options for increasing quality/durability, their certificate of insurance, warranty statement, and other documentation substantiating the business as professional and legitimate.
The contract was executed through a secure e-signature online service - a very professional touch and convenient for me being out of town.
I received assistance from Kim in paint selection and written confirmation of all color selections and the scope of work including optional items.
Jolene, the project manager, provided a weekly email update status regarding the projected start date up until one week before the project and the final date was confirmed by phone call. Obviously this is outdoor work which can be delayed due to weather or other unforseen issues so it was very helpful to have this regular communication which I could relay to my tenant. The project started and completed on time. I received daily progress updates with percentages of completion of the days tasks and look ahead for the following day. True project management.
I came into town for the final job walk and met the foreman, Carlos. He walked me through the details of the work performed and showed me the empty cans of paint and sealant to confirm the materials used to do the work. He was very pleasant and professional. The job site was clean and all trash and debris was picked up. The work was done correctly - I didn't have a single punch list item.
I received a follow up call from Jolene and Mike to make sure everything was to my satisfaction.
I only wish that Mike and his team offered more services than exterior painting. This is a well run company that cares about its customers. I highly recommend them.
