This was my first Calgary Stampede to attend and as a southern cowgirl from Texas, I was pleased to see so many cowboys in Calgary. I attended the sneak a peak and this was a great time to attend with kids if rides are what you're after WITHOUT the crowd and crazies since everyone is still just warming up. I tell ya, this whole city goes wild during stampede! I heard that the horse, Silver from the Lone Ranger was part of the agricultural exhibit, but I missed out on that one. I attended the Grandstand show and that was wonderful and I can say I successfully went stampeding if you call getting drunk, dancing away and having fun just that....I can say I didn't know about the term Stampeding, but I guess its synonymous with Honky-Tonking in Nashville (which I've done too)....will definitely return to this event and as a tribute to the flooding a week prior, the city did a wonderful job of coming together to help with clean up....Hell or High Water....
