| - THE PLACE TO BE for fast service and excellent dim sum. I've gone here twice, both on Sundays at 11am and 1pm, and both times I was seated immediately despite the fact that there was a LOT of people. I'm shocked that even at peak times there's no wait. (Maybe it's because we live in Arizona and not California anymore so there's a smaller Asian population? lol I have no idea, but I'm not complaining.)
I overheard a lady tell the host that she didn't want a table far away from the entrance because her mom was very frail and could not walk far into the restaurant. They had to wait a few minutes longer for a table but it was no problem to accommodate them. I thought that was very nice.
If you want to quickly order to-go desserts, you line up at the bakery at the side of the entrance! There's even free samples.
Now, onto the good stuff.. the dim sum experience! The second time I was seated, they brought me to the corner of an extra room they had wayyy in the back. The pessimist in me was concerned that I would miss out on all the dim sum carts, or that they would rarely visit our table. FEAR NOT - despite being in a small corner, in another room from the main dining hall, the cute pushcart ladies came VERY frequently. In fact, after ten minutes my table was already full of dim sum and we ended up overordering! Not to fret though because I love eating dim sum leftovers.
The excellent: xiao long bao (dumplings with soup inside, make sure you eat it quick while the soup is hot), the siu mai, cha siu bao, the chicken pot pie (lol no idea why this is a dim sum option, but it's really good and I found it in the same cart as the dessert cart), THE EGG TARTS.
The ok: curry bun, coconut macaroon, fried crispy taro (forgot the name but typically this is my favorite dim sum dish, but it was just OK here), radish cake, chicken feet. (My boyfriend loves chicken feet and he liked the ones here, I'm just not super into chicken feet in general.)
Honestly there wasn't anything I hated or disliked. Great variety of dim sum, fast service, and my tummy was happy.
OH - and THEIR EGG TART IS AMAZING. Get the one that looks more yolky and yellow. The egg tart that looks more cooked is still good, but if you get the yellower egg tart, IT'S SOOOO BOMB. Especially when they're newly made so they're still hot. Homg. Freaking amazing.
My bill ended up being $45 for two people, which is higher than usual, but keep in mind I was getting wayyyy too excited trying out all the dim sum. We ended up with LOTS of leftovers. Normally, two people at dim sum will come out with a check totaling around $30-$32.
Yes, I'm definitely returning and loading up on those egg tarts.
