  • Ive bought glasses, riding shorts, bar tape, and riding gloves (all on separate occasions) from this place, and not ONCE been asked if I could be helped. One day I was riding down Gold Dust (the street just south of them) and noticed my rear tire was a bit low, so I swung into their shop to see if I could get a little bit of air put in the tire. I carried my bike up the steps and into the shop and a lady asked me if she could help me. I explained the situation and she brings out a foot pump. At this point Im extremely grateful that she was willing to help. However, she brought out a pump that wouldn't work with my valves. She kept trying to hook it up, but it was letting air OUT of the tube! I tried to intervene and tell her that it wont work, but she just wouldn't listen and kept trying to go at it. By this time the tire was absolutely flat. I asked if she had someone in the "back" (the repair shop is right behind the counter) who could air it up, and she refused and said Id have to go buy the proper pump! What?!?!?!? I grabbed my bike, hoisted it on my shoulder (tire was too flat to wheel it around), and walked over the Bicycles of Scottsdale in the same shopping center. Walked in, they were super courteous, aired up my tire in 30 seconds, and got me out the door free of charge. I told them about what had just happened and the guy chuckled and said "oh yeah, we've heard the horror stories about that place" (Landis). Oh, and one time my wife went in there to get me some nice riding shoes, and the guy sold her shoes for a clipless pedal set up when my wife said I don't have clipless pedals! The guy insisted they will work (THEY WONT) and made the sale. I opened them for my bday and was like "what the heck"? She was upset and had to return them. I guess the guy who did the return apologized and agreed that they would never work on anything but a clipless pedal, so at least they made up for it. Anyways, I give this place 2 stars because their customer service is the absolute PITS. Their only saving grace is their accessories selection is good.
