| - As a long time client of the Belvoir Pet Hospital, I couldn't be happier with the care that my cats have received here. We actually took our cats here when I was a kid, when Dr. Farkas' parents ran this practice. Dr. Joseph Farkas has done a fantastic job of expanding the practice, and bringing in other great vets.
Much has changed over the years, but I appreciate Dr. Farkas' thorough approach with each visit, letting me know what to look out for since all three cats are seniors, and bringing in different specialists when needed (I had a cat with hyperthyroid/cardiomyopathy/dental issues, I have one with skin allergies, and a third with an abnormal kidney).
Dr. Farkas is excellent with outlining various options, he's transparent about cost, and I appreciate his honesty. He is also compassionate, as he guided me through my former cat's cancer in a way that was realistic (our options were limited), and helpful (he gave me advice on when it would be time to let go).
I have seen Dr. George Banta, who is truly gifted with cats and has a very deep knowledge of his craft, which he explains in a way that is effective and compassionate; Dr. Izanec ), who is knowledgeable and pleasant; Dr. Chris Laskin, an experienced vet who is the house dental expert, and Dr. Laurel Tree, who is very sharp.
I have also gotten to know the desk staff well over the years, and they are professional and kind.
One of the reviews mentions the hours. The reason for the break during the day (11:30-2:00) is that the veterinarians perform their surgical operations during that time. They are open 6 days a week, however.
Finally, without solicitation, I received very positive comments about Dr. Farkas and the Belvoir Pet Hospital from the vets at Metropolitan Veterinary Hospital while seeking hyperthyroid treatment for my cat. It's always good to hear great things about one's vet from an objective source. To me, they were all justified.
