| - The rating of this gym fluctuates depending on the day and time you go at. OVERALL this location is pretty good, due to 24/7 access and is decently maintained. There are some exceptions.
If you come to the gym later than 9PM, the one staff member seems to always go missing. So if something breaks, someone gets injured, or whatever, good luck finding the staff. Honestly, I feel like they're taking a nap somewhere - I can NEVER find them. They just leave the scanner and towels out. If you die during a 2AM workout, they'll find you in the morning. Just help yourself to the first aid kit since nobody else will. One of the girls who worked here didn't know what an instant ice pack was so I'm not sure how much you want to trust their first-aid skills.
This location has the hard rubber flooring, not the squishy kind near the weights. Deadlifts can be pretty loud, so be aware of your surroundings. You sometimes get the person who doesn't understand the concept of weightlifting yell at you for "slamming the weights" on a 300lb+ deadlift and how "you're doing it wrong" as he waves his gloved hands around explaining how to do it. That's great, but if you want silence go to a library.
Here's a breakdown of what the gym is like throughout the week:
Off-hours, including weekends, not including holidays:
Not too busy and it's fairly relaxed in terms of trying to get equipment. You don't have to run for a power rack since usually one will be empty. Lots of room for deadlifts and exercises using battle ropes, sleds, box jumps and stuff.
Holidays:
Get here nice and early, and you'll probably get a good workout. Come here 3 hours before closing, you will have every person who forgot it was a holiday come to this gym because all the other locations within a 20km radius is closed. You'll get all the favourite types of gym-goers such as those who do unnecessary exercises in the power racks like bicep curls, dumbbell raises and squatting the bar.
Weekdays, after work (5PM-7PM):
Not as rough as some of the other clubs closer to Toronto/more populated cities like Markham. It's doable and these people are regulars so they just do their thing. Sometimes it does get a bit busy if you follow a "typical" lift schedule (i.e Mondays are Chest).
Overall it's a good location since it has plenty of benches, power racks, and functional training equipment such as sleds.
