| - Riding an incline is definitely a must-do in Pittsburgh. Be aware, though, that when the weather is nice, it seems like everyone will ride the incline, and there will be a line. Parking for the incline is across the road, and there's a bridge above the road to get to the incline. Although there is a roof, it gets hot very quickly, especially in the summer months.
The ride is lovely, and the view is fantastic. At the top, there's a gift shop, and you can also buy refreshments. There's also a museum-type area where you can learn about the history of the incline and watch the gears and mechanical aspects of the incline as it runs. This doesn't cost much (I forget the exact price), and if you're interested in that type of information, it's a nice activity to do.
Of course, at the top, definitely take a look down at the city below and take lots of pictures.
Note: The incline is run by the Port Authority, so if you have a ConnectCard, you can use it here.
