  • Wow, what can I say about a place I walked out of? The bottled beer was good... First, it's a hideaway. So no road signage, and VERY difficult to find parking. I called and they explained that to me. If that were the only issue I would have chalked it up to uniqueness and been happy, but... We walked in to this expecting a restaurant. We found a bar, that also has a restaurant. When you first walk in, you walk into a very small and uncomfortably crowded bar. We were there for lunch and surprised at how cramped it was. So we thought OK, where do we sit. The bartender said we could sit over in the "other" area. The other area was the restaurant seating. The restaurant seating is actually pretty nice. As we walked in there was a gentleman placing menus on the tables, in the otherwise completely empty area. We asked him where was we should sit and he said "it doesn't matter". So we found a table and my wife and I sat down. The waiter was really the beginning and the end of our problems. He asked us what we wanted to drink, then walked away and around a corner. But still kept talking. My wife ordered a Coke, I asked him if he was familiar with the beers. At this point shouting a little because he was around a corner and behind a divider. He said, "what do you mean?" I said "do you know the beers? Like if I were to tell you what I was looking for would you be able to tell me what beer to get?" He said "well tell me what you want and I'll tell you if I know." I just said give me a dark beer because I did not trust him to tell me much about the beers at that point. We waited five to ten minutes for my beer to show back up, but no Coke for my wife. He brought out water glasses but never filled them. There was also no offer or mention of chips and salsa. I don't even know if that's something they offer. But when I searched on yelp for best chips and salsa, this restaurant came up. It is not their fault if yelp search engine is screwed up but certainly we never saw them if they offer them. He disappeared after giving me the beer and ten minutes later came back and asked if we knew what we wanted or had questions. I said I did, and asked him if the adovada was hot. He said "give me a second" and walked out without another word. After five more minutes he came back with the adovada, a green, and a red sauce. I thought that was very nice, but then he said "there's the adovada and I figured her next questions were going to be about the sauces". Then he was gone again. And not like he stood there for a few seconds and then moved on, I mean like before we could say thank you he was gone. Still no Coke, no water, no chips and salsa, no service other than samples. The adovada and the sauces were all very good. I would love to have stayed and tried them on actual food. But unfortunately we did not see your waiter again for 15 minutes. I finished my beer. He still had not returned. My wife and I decided that we should try somewhere else. We walked out, took my beer bottle with me so I could show whomever what I drank and they could charge me, walked into the bar, And there was our waiter. He walked up very quickly. I don't know where he was or what he was doing but he was on me quick. "OK, did you decide on what to eat? ". Seriously, that's what he asked. With my wife and I standing there looking at him. I said no, we're leaving. At this point it had been 35-45 minutes. He said oh OK. In retrospect I think he was quick to get to us because he didn't want us talking to any other servers or employees at the restaurant. Anyway, he charged me full price for the beer, I paid and we walked out. Based on this I did something I never do, I gave no tip. Maybe it was an off day, but we won't be back. I've been to Richardson's and Rojkeri (sp?). Both of those restaurants by the same owners are good and fairly close to this one. Skip the hideaway and go to Richardson's.
