| - After adequately maintaining my pool 25 years and picking up a few things along the way, I'd really lost confidence the last few summers. The pool was cloudier despite my working harder and I was pretty resigned to replacing older equipment. I picked Rod from his reviews and he easily could've sold me a bunch of competitively priced options.
Instead, he listened, asked questions and methodically triaged the issues. We both feared my massive air leak might be underground, as I'd addressed the most typical culprits myself, but he eventually found two above ground leaks. Some o-rings I didnt know existed, in the three way valve, and my strainer basket lube had become a bit gritty with recent overuse. Air leak solved
Onto the green pool. I was hoping he would fix that too. That's what his company does. But I started to get uneasy when it became clear he was going to leave that to me. He provided nuanced instructions but also didnt sound 100% confident. More like 80-90%. He said it would take a while, might involve trial and error - and the pool looked awful. I put my faith in him and did what he said. He had earned that. But after 30 hrs of running the pump straight, the pool was still an opaque mess. I went to bed that night, discouraged, expecting to take him up on his offer of a follow up call in the morning. Instead, I awoke to a pool more clear and inviting than it had looked in a decade. It worked !!
For less money than most outfits charge for a do nothing service call, Rod fixed ALL critical issues, saved me thousands in unnecessary expense and misplaced worries, and added invaluable info and advice to my earnest but stodgy DIY arsenal. He gave me my confidence back. When I do eventually upgrade, or get so old I cant maintain things, it's his business, if he wants it. He earned that. I bet he'll earn yours too.
