| - This review is being written by a die hard gym rat with lots of experience at lots of different gyms. I actually have multiple gym memberships with different facilities and it's time that Gemini gets the review it deserves!
I have to start this review with management because everything trickles down from there. This facility is very well maintained. The equipment is rarely down but things do break, especially when we are talking about equipment that is constantly being used. When a machine is found to have an issue the staff quickly tends to the situation and puts the machine out of commission with proper signage to protect the safety of its members. Management seems to always get these machines repaired faster than any other gym I have been a member at. They are really on top of things.
I also can't say enough about the cleanliness of this facility. Most of the members seem to respectfully clean their machines after using them but even if they don't it is obvious that the staff does their own cleaning as well. I often see them walking the floors and cleaning equipment that doesn't even appear dirty. This is very important and an area most gyms really lack. Most gyms leave it to the trust they have in their members to clean equipment after each use. At the Gemini they don't take that risk and clean the equipment themselves as well to ensure that members are at less risk of any kind of contact with germs or bacteria. Some people may not realize how big of a deal this is but dirty gym equipment can cause skin infections, and even pneumonia and septicemia.
All of the staff are very friendly, helpful, respectful and willing to answer any questions and help in any way they can. Bob is probably one of the staff members I see the most and always says hi, has a great attitude and carries himself like a gentlemen. Steve, the director seems to be very loved among his staff. This says a lot as to why the staff is always so friendly. In my experience, when you love working for your superiors it makes for a funner and happier work atmosphere. The way you treat your staff is well reflected in how the staff treats its members, customers, vendors etc. I have also been to a few of the community events thrown by the recreation center as well and they are always well put together and organized. It seems like this staff really has some good teamwork going on and needed to be mentioned as part of this review.
I feel that every gym has their way of being unique and special. Every gym will suit everyone's needs in a different dimension and some may find one gym to be more for them for one reason or another. Maybe they want a different type of atmosphere or a different type of training they are looking for or whatever their desired specialty should be. Let's face it, we all have a purpose as to why we become members of the gyms we join. With that being said, the Gemini seriously offers the BIGGEST package you will find. For everything they have to offer I can't name one gym who could compete with it as a whole package. They do an amazing job at satisfying the needs of pretty much any fitness enthusiast and that is what sets the Gemini apart from other gyms. They have a nice size weight room that enables you to hit every muscle group, indoor track, abundance of cardio equipment, an Olympic sized swimming pool with lanes, large basketball court with tons of hoops, fitness classes, event rooms which can be rented for your parties or events, and a sauna. On top of all that, they have the most friendly and helpful staff you're going to find at any gym, and a director who listens to ideas and suggestions and actually acts on them if he sees how they would be helpful additions to the weight room or other amenities of the rec center!
