| - I feel bad writing this review as I like Stevie, but I'm also VERY disappointed.
I went in a few weeks ago to get my eyelashes done. I came in with very full, beautiful lashes. They weren't crazy-long and unnatural, but they were very full. I think I had mostly 12s and 13s, but I have big eyes so it didn't look crazy Kardashian-like.
I came in for a refill and told Stevie I found her via the Novalash website.
Before our session, Stevie told me she would check out the health of my eyelashes and let me know if my eyelashes could sustain that length. She said she was used to seeing "chop shops" mess up peoples' eyelashes so she wanted to be careful.
As she worked on my lashes she didn't say anything to me about making any changes, so I was really surprised when I opened up my eyes and saw that my lashes were shorter and MUCH less full than before. I am not sure but I think she actually took out all of my awesome lashes and replaced with what she was doing.
I was so surprised and asked if she'd placed lashes on each of my eyelashes, because I had NEVER seen them look so paltry.
She gave me a few different answers:
a) She said she was using Novalash glue because I mentioned I found her via Novalash, and that glue is much slower to dry compared to what she normally uses.
(Note: she never asked me if I was tied to that specific glue.)
b) She said my previous extensionist applied multiple lashes to each eye. I asked her if that would hurt my eyelashes and she said no. (She also said I could have withstood what I'd been getting from the other place, so I don't know why she changed anything!)
c) She said there were about 15% more lashes that I could get filled.
d) She was tired after a long week.
I asked her if I could make another appointment to fill out the rest, figuring it was a communication breakdown.
When I got home even my boyfriend who never notices my eyelashes said these were far less full than usual.
When I came into the appointment 2 days later, Stevie did what she could. She said the lashes left over where short but she added in a bunch of lashes. They were still VERY different from what I'm used to but I figured we could recoup in my next appointment. It's not THAT big of a deal.
She charged me full price for the standard two week refill for that appointment.
As I was leaving I went to make another appointment. Stevie said she was going on vacation so I could make an appointment for within a couple weeks or I could go see Mindy who was really good. (She repeated about how good Mindy was a few times.)
I said, "I guess I could make an appointment with you and cancel within 24 hours if I still have most of my lashes, right?"
She said something to the degree of, "That would technically be in the rules but I'd rather you didn't" so I decided to be nice and go with Mindy. I didn't want to screw up her schedule.
Now, this isn't Stevie's fault, but every time I went there I had to Uber. It cost at LEAST $20 each time I went there, adding $40+ to each visit.
When I got there the third time (after 45 minutes of Uber because the first person canceled, and paying surge rates), Mindy (who was VERY nice) told told the receptionist she had seen Stevie's notes about me and was good to go.
After she laid me on the table and applied pads to my eyes, I gave her the spiel I gave Stevie about wanting to get a lot of eyelashes, happy to pay extra, etc.
Mindy said she didn't do volume lashes and that Stevie didn't mention anything about volume in her notes. The said she could apply THICK lashes, but not volume.
The end result was she took the pads off and didn't apply any lashes because she didn't want to disappoint me.
I WASTED SO MUCH TIME getting to this appointment.
Stevie knew very well what I was looking for but she had me pay TWICE for a subpar job, then had me to go Mindy for something she knew couldn't be fulfilled.
It is also worth mentioning that the eyelashes from Stevie's have fallen off WAY faster than at my old place in Pennsylvania. I am not sure if this is because of the climate here, but what my lashes look like now compared to what they looked like after this time in PA is staggering.
Stevie's may be awesome for other things, and Mindy is probably great for super-natural lashes, but I don't recommend Stevie for caring about her clients and having good communication.
