Went here on a Sunday evening while in Pittsburgh recently. I had done some searching on Yelp and Open Table as we wanted a reservation for our party of 5. Parking was also an important decision element and you can get free valet for up to 4 hours at the hotel. We weren't quite sure if the restaurant was inside the hotel or next door and when we arrived realized it was inside (there is a small bar with same name that is accessible from the street or the lobby too). We were promptly seated at a round table that was large yet intimate enough for our party. I wanted to try so many things that I opted to do a bit of a sampler approach versus having a full meal. I started with the onion soup gratinee, which has bourbon in it (an homage to the whiskey strength of the restaurant). It was a solid onion soup and a good sized portion. My mom and I split the spinach salad which comes with spinach, strawberries, spicy pecans, bleu cheese crumbles and a poppy seed vinaigrette. All of my favorite salad things in one salad and it was fresh and tasty! For my main, I had the braised short rib pierogies with creamed leeks. I had read about these on numerous "top Pittsburgh pierogi" lists, which was another reason I chose this restaurant. They were melt-in-your-mouth good. Fresh bread was brought to the table and we shared a bottle of wine (you'll need to ask for the bottle menu as they don't initially bring it out). We enjoyed ourselves - the ambiance was airy and historic. There were other diners, but it wasn't overly crowded and it wasn't overly noisy. Our server was attentive and helpful as others considered their menu choices. All in all, a solid place I'm a fan of and would recommend to others.
