| - Stumbled into this local spot by chance mid-afternoon Saturday, and will certainly return on purpose, even though we do not live nearby. Fun, local sports bar - a real one - not the typical "franchise / chain" wannabe manufactured digs or phoney atmosphere. For you sports fans, TV's are everywhere. For you beer fans, I counted 31 tap handles. If your nickname is "Minnesota", they also have pool tables!
Food was particularly good at mid-afternoon - a good sign that their kitchen stood ready during an off-hour. Wife had a very generous portion of pulled pork - nothing really special - but it was good quality and nicely presented. Portion was plenty to eat there plus some to take home!
Fish-and-chips for me, and it was GREAT! Had it many times in British pubs, and Ed's version was quite authentic - other than it was served on a plate vs. newspaper. An observation - not a criticism - I will eagerly order it again next time. My generous portion of fish was fresh, too hot to eat when served, (a very good thing) and perfectly battered and fried. Chips were also too hot to handle and perfectly crispy. Burgers at next table also looked tempting.
My spicy - don't be shy - Bloody Mary(s) had a perfect kick! Waitress was perky and appropriately attentive. Mixed and comfortable crowd mostly 20/30s mixed with a few of us in the card-carrying Medicare vintage. Crowd was enjoying the place - nobody seemed out of place regardless of age. We originally thought the place was empty since parking is in the rear.
We will return, and I suggest you try it!
