| - It is spring time once again, and with that I have been wearing a lot of adorable sandals lately. However, I have felt very insecure showing off my feet because they have long been overdue for a pedicure. So last weekend my husband and I treated ourselves to a pedicure and stopped in at the nearest nail salon we could find, which was Top Nails.
We arrived at 9:15 am and were helped even though they were not open officially until 9:30 am. I took note that the pedicure chairs had plastic disposable liners, which I appreciated. Cleanliness is definitely my #1 priority when it comes to a nail salon. So score 1 star for them for that.
My husband was attended to almost immediately, whereas I was left to wait for an available staff member for a good 15 minutes or so. He was done and moved onto a manicure before I was even helped. It would make more sense to me that the female would be attended to more-so than the male, considering the female is more than likely going to spend more, but whatever. I didn't mind waiting, as I was in no rush, but I did find it odd.
I finally met the lady that was to do my pedicure and manicure. I'm not sure if she didn't speak English well or if she was just really shy, but she wasn't personable at all, and quite frankly I felt a little uncomfortable with her. She wouldn't use her words when she wanted me to do something such as place my foot back in the water, bring it back out, lift it up, etc. I had a hard time understanding what she needed me to do, and she would just grunt at me or yell "Honey!" to somehow get me to do what she needed me to do. I don't read minds woman!
The pedicure itself turned out okay. She missed the rough patches on my heels, which was the majority of the reason I was getting the pedicure in the first place. I'll definitely probably need to get another pedicure soon.
My gel manicure turned out less than great. I explained to her that I wanted my nails to be white and coral polka dots (1st finger white with coral polka dots, 2nd finger coral with white polka dots, and so on and so forth). She gave me attitude and told me that I should just do the new fad that is 1 nail on each hand with polka dots. I told her I don't like that, and I want polka dots on all nails. She kept saying, "No no no, that's way too much!" I had half a mind to say "Okay, then what I'm about to pay you is too much too." Never in my life have I been told by someone who was providing me a SERVICE that what I wanted was TOO MUCH, especially when it certainly was not too much. It's not like I asked for her to go pick up my dry cleaning... I asked for a few extra polka dots. Seriously! She finally just sighed and said, "Fine, I'll do what you want." Gee.... thanks.
Unfortunately she didn't end up doing what I wanted. She got the white polka dots on coral right, but she couldn't find a paint color for the coral polka dots on my white nails so instead of telling me, she just picked one she felt was close to it, and used that. The color was neon orange! They turned out terrible, and nothing like what I wanted.
I will not be returning here. While I appreciate the cleanliness of the salon, that's as far as it goes. The service I received was very poor, and the quality was not worth the amount I paid.
