I was excited to try Spoon for the first time but in my opinion it does not justify the hype. I was encouraged by their extensive selection of wine and spirits but I thought the prices were a bit high. The bread selection was good but definitely short of spectacular. My appetizer was the grilled prawns which were good but there were only two of them and I would have preferred more bok choy in lieu of the okonomyaki which I was disappointed in. I also liked the beef and veal entree I ordered but I would have preferred the sweetbreads to have been grilled as frying them masked their flavor and there should have been twice as many short ribs as they were quite tiny. My wife and I split the bread pudding dessert which was fabulous but I was not fond of the cinnamon ice cream as I found it slightly bitter. To sum up I think they are trying too hard and I would prefer them to keep their dishes simpler and less expensive.
