I remember the first time I came here I was put off by all the pictures of royalty on the walls and I generally hate eating in a place surrounded by tossers so the monarchy is as bad as it gets.
However what makes this pub nice is that it does bring back some of the charms of the UK country side pubs into Toronto and the crowd varies from young student types to families to old folks who all come here to enjoy the ambience and food.
For starters I had the red pepper soup, this was delicious like yuuuum real nice, although a nice bap to really clean the bowl would be a bonus.
For mains I had a chicken and veg pie. Not a big fan of pies in ceramic bowls and only the top covered with pastry. However the pie itself was delicious but again ideally it should come with chips and not mash and could do without the baby onions.
Desert was a chocolate brownie with a scoop of ice cream. it was nice but as nice as a desert can get in a pub.
Service was good, especially considering how busy the pub was and if I am in the area and looking for some pub grub then I would come here.
Props to Chris P for introducing me to shock top Belgian beer, it was uber nice and I was at the beer store the next day stocking up on it and super thanks to Evelyn for re-introducing me to this place.
