I'll start the review by saying I enjoyed the food and the star review doesn't reflect that.
But... There were live ants in one of our bread trays! We didn't make a fuss, because I think we all weren't the type, but we did call the waiter over and pointed it out and asked him to remove that tray of bread. We also stayed and ordered partly because we were in shock, and partly because we don't like fusses and it would be strange to walk out of the restaurant. And partly because we were hungry (it's hard to make rational decisions when hungry and near food) and figured it was probably a one time deal (it was. We checked all the rest of the bread bowls and no ants).
The waiter took away the bread bowl quickly... And the situation wasn't brought up again. We got our food. It was pretty tasty. It wasn't the best I've ever had but probably a solid 4 stars at least if I didn't have ants on the brain. The service was slow between dinner and dessert, but I think that's because it was peak dinner time (~7:30pm). The waitstaff was quite polite. We had two main servers, and one was extremely nice and attentive with the water.
The white chocolate and pistachio creme brulee was delicious btw. Credit where credit is due.
And we paid and left... And now I'm writing this because I think we should have received more... something for the presence of live insects in our food. There was perhaps a quick apology as it was whisked away, but that was it. Did the waiter even let the manager know? I would have appreciated the manager coming over and apologizing. I would have really appreciated having our wine or dessert comped. I am frustrated that, since I'm not someone who likes to kick up a fuss, the situation was poorly handled. I guess I learned my lesson.
