Studio 8 Ten is a neat little gift shop and gallery that's sort-of hidden between the Fremont Street area and the Arts District downtown. It sells all kinds of handmade gifts, including bath products, luggage, pottery, apparel, jewelry, home furnishings and much more.
The cool thing? All the stuff is made in-house by intellectually disabled adults, many of whom can be found working on products right inside the shop at any time of the day. They are super nice and it's cool to see the items being created right there -- and to know your money goes to employ people who otherwise miss out on mainstream job opportunities.
The other portion of the business is a gallery that hosts art shows from local artists. They usually hold receptions every few months or so. Worth checking out next time you're trolling about downtown.
