  • Mobilicity has been my provider for about two years now. I have been totally satisfied. Note the first: I bought my first phone/plan from a Mob store on the Danforth but they were not listed here. I have also worked with a store closer to Ryerson. So this review is more about the service than the two stores. (Both were fine). Note the second: I'm writing this review from the perspective of somebody that needs minimal service and wants to pay no more than $1 a day for it. I actually use the phone MAYBE once a week. (More when seeing somebody/way, way less when not). I still have a "dumbphone" and just don't need a mini computer in my pocket. So, with that out of the way, I am a big fan of this service. Yes, the coverage area is small but be honest with yourself Downtown Torontonian. When was the last time you crossed Bloor/Queen/Yonge/name-your-barrier? 75% of my time is spent between Danforth-Woodbine and Sherbounge-King Earlier this year, I traveled in California and had no problems. You just drop some money into your "wallet"--totally fuss free with no hidden/unexpected costs or charges. Yes, the phones are expensive because there are no gimmicks or contracts. Enter and leave their service as you choose. As for the service, I've rarely had issues. (Again, I'm a low end user--maybe I'd find more trouble if I talked more) Price--$30 a month (promo) gets me way more than I could ever use. $1 seems fair to me. (Again, I don't use data). Ease! What drives me insane about Bell (and many others) is how much choice you have. Does anyone really need that much choice between plans? Just give me a few options: the base plan, the little bit more for $5 plan, the even more for $10 more plan and the all out plan. That's it. Time not spent worrying over a phone plan can be used to think about jazz, photography or cocktails. I used to really like that they do minimal advertising. Those little mascots don't have names. I don't need dogs pretending to be human on my TV screen to get me to buy a service. I just want good service, well priced. This might have changed but this was wholly owned by a Canadian company. It feels pretty indie. Cons? I'll be the first to admit that the selection of phones is limited. That being the case, you can always use an unlocked phone like that Google Nexus. There is also some way to make an Iphone work but if you are that desperate for an Iphone you should probably just go to another provider. (And possibly get a life--ZING!) Recommended--if you can be content with no frills wireless service. Given the financial news from the newer carriers this year, I suspect Mobilicity will be swallowed up by a bigger player and that would be a really sad thing.
