Finally got the opportunity to visit DPK today in order to beat the heat outside. Unfortunately, everyone else had the same idea, this place was unbelievably busy on a tuesday morning!!! I have 3 kids between 5 and 15 months and can honestly say all 3 had an excellent time and we stayed well over 5 hours!
I disagree with the prior review about it not being too big to lose the kids. There are many rooms and two levels for kids to go visit and with a little one in the baby area my other children were not in view at all times. I did not give this museum the full rating for the following reasons:
1. The possibility of children wandering out or worse... Even popular jump house play areas give matching numbered bands to families and check every one when leaving to assure kids are leaving with the appropriate persons.
2. Extremely small eating area for folks who bring in their lunches.
3. The baby/toddler area's gate seemed unsafe. I watched as several young kids almost walked out unnoticed due to the door being left open. Easy fix, a childproof latch and hinge to keep the door shut!
That being said, it was very fun and we will be back. Hopefully it won't be as crowded, I believe there were a few daycares and camps visiting this day and it was very chaotic until after lunch when it calmed down and we were able to enjoy ourselves.
