| - I lived here a while back and just moved back to the vegas area. I enjoyed my time at Sandpiper enough to come back. I always felt safe, the prices for a 1 bedroom are really quite amazing for the area (more expensive now than 5 years ago of course), and the best part is the apartments are renovated with new appliances and all.
Not sure if they're under new management or something, but between the renovations, the new website, new manager Rocio (who is awesome), and resurfaced streets, it seems like things have definitely improved. But so has the economy, so maybe things are just easier now.
I can't quite give it 5 stars as it's just not a top-tier community. But at the same time, you don't pay top-tier prices. It's simply just a comfortable place to live. And the gym equipment is great too if you make use of it (they charge a refundable $50 deposit for the key).
Honestly this community comes down to a bunch of positives and negatives and you pretty much get what you pay for here.
Positives:
-Good location (this really depends on where you work)
-Quiet community
-Leasing office staff always polite
-Renovated units have new appliances
-Kitchen now has granite counters and updated cabinets (definitely did not last time I was here)
-Lots of free parking (important since I have friends that sleep over)
Negatives
-Pools/tennis courts mediocre
-Property layout is kind of annoying to drive around in my opinion
-Don't take online payments yet (though I've been told they're finally working on it now)
One thing that I read many reviewers complain about is that the security gate doesn't work. It DOES work! It's closed at night from 7pm to 7am (roughly), but yes they do leave it open during the day. They give us a code to get in at night of course.
Another thing people complained about is that the pools are not open year round. Um...where in Vegas can you find an OUTDOOR pool open during the WINTER?! It's 35 degrees out right now in January. No one wants to swim anyway! People complaining about this must have never lived in an apartment in vegas before. All three that I've lived in in Vegas had the same policy to close the pools during winter.
Again, you get what you pay for. I consider it good value. Nothing fancy, but the price isn't high either (at least for 1 bedrooms). I pay about $750 for a renovated apartment btw.
