| - I would love to give them a better review, but they just didn't earn it. We ordered the humongous $99 lobster and we should have known better. Those big-boys just don't taste all that well to start with, and it was not expertly cooked, either. The side of Brussels' sprouts were touted as al dente; however, it was tough to fork them off the plate. My wife's lobster bisque was the highlight and my Caesar salad was bland and lifeless (although they did give ample portions of anchovies).
Beyond the heavy decor and the shtick of getting your caricature painted on the wall if you spend a lot, the most disappointing part of the evening was the table side "pitch" to join the 837 Club. Really?!? I just laid out $200 and your idea of a wonderful close to the meal before dessert is to present me a brochure and encourage me to join a dinner club? I could not have been more surprised and for a moment thought I was flying coach on US Airways on my way back from Cancun. Imagine my greater surprise that I was pitched again AFTER dessert, too. Yes, they did (and no, I'm not joining)!
Lastly, we made our reservations through Open Table, which was honored. I made comments on their site that this was our 37th anniversary. I was not looking for a freebie or clapping or a cupcake, but it would have been nice if they acknowledged it to my wife. For all the hype and price, Palm Restaurant needs to rattle a few coconuts at this location.
