  • I expected much more - we went mid-July to Henderson to handle some personal business and thought we would treat ourselves to a Hilton stay, based upon past positive experiences at other locations. The hotel needs a cosmetic lift; it all looks worn, and it is not cheap. Our view was very nice, right over the man made lake. The wait staff was mediocre, unfortunately, and it was hard to get excited about anything in the restaurants, when they weren't. The exception to this was the Sunday (expensive) brunch. The food was top-notch at this one event; however, the wait staff was again, sorely lacking. The small 'town' was a ghost town and eerie to walk through, with only about 20% of the shops open, and no one in them. A small scoop of ice cream was $5, which, frankly, was not as delicious as the Rite-Aid award-winning ice cream, for half of the price. We went to the pool one day, where they brought us the wrong order, and the 3 young staff were more interested in playing electronica music at the highest volume possible, so no one could talk at the pool, filled with families and couples, trying to talk over it. When I asked them to turn it down, I received a sour look on their face and thought to myself, is this our weekend, or theirs? The music went back up an hour, later. We registered a complaint at the Lobby desk, and don't know if it was addressed. The next day, we decided to rent an electric motorboat in the late morning. The rental place clearly told us they weren't part of the Hilton, and kept their feet on the desk as they told us to come back in 15 minutes when they opened . . . . really?!! We came back, only because there was nothing else to do, and when we returned from our hour on the Lake, we brought the boat to the dock. The guy came up to us and said we brought back to the wrong side of the dock and we 'needed to put it back where it originally was.' Yeah, we told him it would be fine if he did that instead, since IT WAS HIS JOB. The customer service was appalling; there were 3 guys working there and only 1 other boat out, besides ours. We were so excited and looking forward to the 3-day weekend, but we were left with a very sour taste in our mouth and a resounding promise not to return to that Hilton. It was overall, depressing.
