My unpleasant experience occurred a few years ago, and I have not returned. However, I systematically receive texts and phone calls still in an attempt for me to come back for another visit. My annoyance in their persistent attempts to keep me as a patient has prompted me to leave this review.
I initially sought their medical advice on a recommendation from a friend. I was unofficially diagnosed by my physician father in law years ago with hypothyroidism years go, but I never made much of an attempt to get an actual diagnosis from a doctor that can treat me without ethical conflict. I was made aware how difficult and time-consuming it can be to get a medical diagnosis for hypothyroidism because your blood work has to be done at just the right time, and you have to have a doctor that really knows what to look for. I didn't want to deal with that so I just kind of went into denial over the whole thing and did nothing. Over the years my symptoms became more prevalent and stronger in effect on my body. I did hours of my own research and every scientific study I read on thyroid issues and the symptoms thereof were dead on to my own physical issues I had been experiencing for years. I went in and sat down with a physician's assistant who took great care in listening to me. He was wonderful, attentive, and detailed. Blood was taken and a follow-up appointment was set to go over the results. At this time I also set an appointment with the on staff gynecologist at a later date for my yearly exam.
A few days before my appointment to come in for the blood test results I received a call requesting that I merge that appointment with that of my lady bits exam. I agreed. The next week I went in and the gynecologist sat me down before my exam to go over the blood test. This was the most insulting experience I ever had with a doctor. She said all my levels were normal except for my liver enzymes. She then said that really that can be caused by only a couple of things. The first option is there is a piece of fat that has attached itself to my liver. If that is the case it will dissolve over time and everything will be fine. The other option is that I drink too much and it's affecting my liver. HUGE RED FLAG!!! I (at the VERY most) have one or two drinks a MONTH!! And I'm talking about a glass of red wine. Nothing major. After she made that comment to paused and looked up at me as if waiting for a reaction from me to affirm that diagnosis. She basically called me an alcoholic. The conversation didn't really go on past that, other than her writing a prescription for an antidepression/anti-anxiety medication..... which I dropped in the trash the minute I got home. I will add that when I go home I also looked up causes for elevated liver enzymes. Big surprise, there are countless different medical issues that can cause elevated liver enzymes; not just fat and excessive alcohol. And on that list.... hypothyroidism.
Additionally, while I was having my lady's exam done, her assistant (nurse?) was walking in and out of the room... opening the door rather widely and slowly each time. The angle at which I was laying gave a VERY good view for anyone standing or sitting at the nurse's station right outside the door.
I have a medical background. I have also (like most) been on many personal visits to medical offices for various reasons throughout my life. This was the worse experience I have ever been a victim of. This doctor clearly didn't care about my ongoing health. She basically diagnosed me as a depressed alcoholic and offered a band-aid (not a solution) to her diagnosis with the prescription. And then she failed to fail to keep my dignity guarded during what is most arguably the most personal exam a woman can have. I don't know if she is still there. I think her name was Jessica. But that experience will keep me from ever wanting to return.
