| - This was my first time ever getting any Standard CPR training so everything was new to me. I had such a lively instructor by the name of Jeremy and he was such a FUNNY instructor! I can't even count on my fingers how many times he has made me laugh and the stories that come along with it.
There was a lot of group work/role playing involved in the course so if you're not the type to work with groups or pitch in ideas...then i would say THAT YOU NEED TO LEARN!!! It was such a fun learning environment and there was videos and mannequin demonstrations as well.
The location is very convenient especially if you live downtown like myself. Although if you're coming from areas that require taking the subway, then i suggest not booking during the weekend because of the never-ending closures between the Bloor-Danforth line (unless there isn't one during the weekend which is RARE nowadays lol)
Overall i really enjoyed it. There are several courses offered every week. There is a deal if you bring a friend, so i brang my friend who also wanted to do the certificate and we both paid 95$ - where as you pay 120$ alone. If it is your first time and you want the Standard CPR course like i did, it is a TWO day course whereas if you need to renew it then its just one day. It's usually 8 hours a day ( i don't know much of the other courses that they offer) but be prepared to bring some lunch and snacks. The instructor gave us about 2-3 breaks a day - 2 of them being 15 min each and one 45 min lunch break.
If you did not bring lunch/snacks however there are a bunch of stores within the area (Carlton and Parliament) like the convenience stores, Tim Hortons, Starbucks, Yogurtys, Shoppers Drug Mart and many others.
BTW, fortunately they do give you the certificate/card by the end of day 2 ( or day 1 if you're taking the day 1 course). This is amazing instead of them mailing them out like other certificate schools do.
******IF you're wondering why i took away a star, it's because i really feel that everything should be just taught in one day instead of two. Most of the stuff we did on Day 2 is repetitive from Day 1 and we just learned 3 extra units. Day 2 was probably a waste of time but i guess they want us to keep on practicing the CPR and how/when it should be used and the order of the steps. In the end of the Day 2 the instructor would pair you all off and do a role-playing scene to see if you remember the steps and do them correctly. Overall nothing hard. As i said my instructor kept repeating it over and over and eventually it does stick into your head. There is a 50 multiple question test - you do half on day 1 and 2. As i said, nothing hard all of the questions are easy and repetitive information you do hear. He said in the beginning of the course that you should get a 70% to pass the test, but if you do the role-playing and interact with the class, then you pass.
