| - Ahh...beach, water, trees, and a boardwalk! Kew Gardens doubles up not only as a park, but there is also a beach. There is plenty of seating, and a great bike/rollerblading path that links from Woodbine beach (to the west) all the way to Balmy Beach (to the east). The parking situation can be a little tricky (don't even bother trying to find parking on Queen Street East, especially if it's nice out), but we lucked out and found a spot right off of Lee Ave.
The crowds on a Sunday afternoon were pretty manageable, and it was simply gorgeous out. Plenty of kites were being flown, and the dogs were running around as well. They were all so happy and adorable! We couldn't resist and pet them and play with them too. :) There are small snack bars scattered along the boardwalk and a few dining options, but there are tons more just up the block on Queen Street. Washrooms are impeccably clean (surprising given that it's on the beach), and a fun surprise on the East end was the R.C. Harris Water Filtration Plant! The grounds were lovely to walk on, and the view up top was amazing.
We really enjoyed our time here and would definitely make another visit. I'd love to check out the music events that they have here as well. It's a nice retreat if you're tired of walking around the city's downtown, and awesome that they have sand volleyball courts as well! :)
