  • I want to think that Rolled Ice Cream is something amazing, but I just don't get the allure. Maybe I'm becoming some some cranky old mid-30yo, but it just didn't work for me. First, the line. It's like this place was giving away free Rolex's. They weren't. So waiting 20-25 minutes in line was a bad start. Second, the process. They have a bunch of ice cream making stations. The way they do the ice cream, pouring it out fresh, is cool, I'll give them that. But then it's a bunch of chopping and slicing and dicing, picking ingredients, then more slicing and dicing, eventually leading to the ultimate build up of rolling the ice cream and serving. Third, the final product. Eh. I mean it's ice cream. I got a traditional mix in of Reeses Peanut Butter Cups. My wife got a Ding Dong & chocolate syrup mixed in. It just wasn't that good. Maybe candy isn't what it used to be? The chocolate became super waxy and just stuck to our teeth. You could hardly taste the chocolate syrup that was added. The presentation was nice, but after the second or third bite you're no longer eating "rolled ice cream" you're eating a cup of ice cream. I'd rather have Thrifty Ice Cream or Baskin Robbins. If I'm in the mood for a mix in, the classic Cold Stone would do the trick. Maybe I'm getting old. Maybe it just wasn't that good. Not sure which, but rolled ice cream just doesn't excite me.
