  • Ok....so I've been reading all of the bad reviews this service here in Charlotte has been getting and would like to add my own, with a theory as to why I think they are god-awful and don't even warrant one star. I ordered something online that was shipped via LaserShip. The tracking information showed that it arrived here in town on Monday, 12/12, with an estimated delivery date of 12/13. On 12/13, the delivery date was pushed to 12/14 with a reason of "External delay". On 12/14, the delivery date was pushed to 12/15 with the same reason given. At this point, I was beginning to worry that they had lost my package. However, on 12/15 the tracking information stated that it was on the truck and out for delivery, so I regained my optimism; It is the week before Xmas and I'm sure all the shipping services are swamped. 12/15 came and went without a delivery. So, on the morning of 12/16, the tracking status has been reverted back to delayed due to "External" reasons with a new estimated delivery of 12/19, the following Monday!! I had finally had enough and called their customer service line. They were very polite and helpful. I asked if there was any way that I could just drive over to the location and retrieve the package myself. The said I could and called me back to let me know it was ready for me to pick up. I know this defeats the whole purpose of having something shipped, but clearly there was an issue here and I was not about to wait another 3 days when a 20 minute car ride would solve the problem. I'm glad I did because now I think I have learned why they have such HORRIBLE service. When I got to the warehouse, what I found surprised me. It was a giant, practically empty warehouse with HUGE stacks and piles of packages stacked randomly here and there. No shelves, no pallets with any kind of order to them. Literally, PILES of packages of all shapes and sizes just piled up here and there. Outside, I saw one or two white delivery-looking vans with the LS logo on the side. But, then I noticed several normal, personal looking vehicles pulling into the warehouse through the shipping doors. I also notice a 6-7 people, all dressed in normal clothes, as opposed to a company uniform, standing in lines at what appeared to be dispatch windows. This is my theory and opinion only: This company is run like Uber or Lyft. They have people that come in their own cars, are given a package and destination, and they do the delivery. If they don't want to deliver it, something more important comes up, or they forget, they just drop the package wherever they want (and claim it was "delivered"), or they bring it back to the dispatch center, where it goes back into the queue to be delivered. This is what I think happened to my package: It was picked up on 12/15, the driver chose not to deliver it for whatever reason, and returned it to the warehouse that evening. That is why my estimated delivery bumped an additional 3 days; it went to the "back of the line". This company seems to be able to provide inexpensive shipping by taking advantage of what are essentially "mercenaries" and removing any semblance of corporate accountability and professionalism. This company seems to be farming out the delivery of packages to whoever shows up with a working vehicle. Maybe I am wrong, but that is surely what it looked like was going on in front of me and totally explains the poor service I and others have been experiencing.
