| - I went to Teds because other local shops were suggesting a two week repair time for what I understood to be a simple derailleur adjustment. I called Teds and was told that he would look at the bike within a few hours if I brought the bike in, which I did.
Upon walking in, Ted Put the bike on the repair stand and went to work. Almost instantly, ted recognized that the poor shifting was the result of a bent front derailleur. I really didn't expect him to fix it right then and there, as it can take a bit of time to do this; But, Ted took the chain off, replaced the front derailleur, put the chain back on, changed the frayed derailleur cable, and dialed in the new derailleur (anyone who has done this knows what a pain in the ass this can be). He then recognized the rear derailleur was also slightly bent and pulled out a tool to get it back to within spec!
After all of this effort, I really expected him to just hit me with the bill and send me on my way. Ted actually gave my entire bike a thorough inspection, made some tweaks to the brakes, checked the chain, taught me about the most likely cause of the bent derailleur (shifting under load) and also how to avoid this issue in the future. He even went as far as teaching me how to adjust the cable tension when the new derailleur cable eventually stretches.
My bike rides amazingly well and is incredibly smooth. For this, I am grateful for the work which Ted had done and how quickly he did it!
Ted provides the best bike service in the city, hands down. His knowledge, skill and passion for what he does are evident. His enthusiasm for cycling and his appreciation for a well tuned bike are both contagious and refreshing!
Ted is a very fair and honest guy who provides a fantastic service at a very reasonable price! Thanks again, Ted!
