| - I have been a member of Massage Envy for a few years. I have been coming to this location as I had a favorite therapist, she was the best of the best but recently left, sadly to say. My massage of choice is relaxation, so not too difficult. I recently had a massage given by Ashley as the receptionist there suggested her after I described that I wanted and since my favorite was no longer there.
When I arrived, there were 3 girls at the front area. One was standing outside near the restaurant next door and 2 were at the front desk. They were all giggling and worried more about their dinner than greeting and dealing with incoming customers. This is the 2nd time I've witnessed less than professionalism taking place upon entering this location. As I sat in the waiting area decompressing from my day, they all 3 sat and talked loudly, giggling and making what it to an inviting relaxing experience, annoying from the get-go! Then one of the stood up and announced she was Ashley, the girl giving me my massage - great!!!
Now, keep in mind, I've been going there for years and all the notes on my massage preferences are in writing on my chart that they pick up each and every time a customer comes in. I verbally let her know my preferences, no hot towels, no scalp massage, etc... I just want relaxation, not too much pressure and maybe work a little on any kinks, you know a RELAXING massage. Again, all of this is noted on my chart as well.
I sat in the room on the table waiting for 10 minutes before she came back in to start. Probably back upfront chitty chatting with the girls. I had an hour session which comes out to 50 minutes after they do their back and forth talk with you so never really an hour but it was already after 10 minutes plus after the hour and she didn't start on me until 15 minutes after the hour so she started late.
This was the worst massage I've ever had. She first took off her shoes and was barefoot and did everything she could to sit on a chair during my session because it was more about her comfort than mine! When she took my arms off the table while I was face down, she pulled on them with force, no a light tug, which is normal but seriously pulled on my arms. Nothing relaxing about that. Her touch was off the mark and there was nothing that felt good about any of her massage techniques. She then pulled out HOT towels to put on my back (hello - I said NO HOT TOWELS). She let those sit for waaaay too long to eat up time. When I flipped over on my back, she then spent a ton of time giving me a scalp massage (WHICH I ALSO SAID I DIDN"T LIKE) and it was more like she was messing up my hair than actually giving me a massage and it didn't feel good at all.
Oh, I forgot to mention that for 15 minutes of the massage, there were 2 girls outside in the hall laughing and talking up a storm. Again, this is not what you pay for to listen to people yick-yack while you are getting a massage! The owner really needs to get her employees dialed in here! And yes, it was the employees making the noise, not noise from the bar/restaurant next door which is also a negative factor this this location.
Last, she took a towel as I lay on my back, looped it under my neck, held it on both side up in the air and lifted my neck off the table and then jerked it as my neck flopped up and down with only the towel supporting it. This hurt like hell and she said "there, you got a nice stretch there didn't you?" Thank Goodness, this was the end of the worst "massage" I've every had! I put massage in quote as it was nothing like a relaxation massage I or anyone should ever have to pay for. I looked at the clock and I got a whopping 45 minute massage so she short cheated me on time.
I was sent a survey from this facility after my appointment and I noted all of the above and yet, never heard from anyone there. I should have been credited my session back for another session. Obviously the Manager must have been one of the girls at the desk that day and didn't want to get into trouble or the owner just doesn't care. This location has gone down hill and is run by school girls with no regard towards their clientele and I will not return here again. Remodel or not, there are too many other locations to go to where the staff and therapists are much more professional and skilled AND who listen to what the customer wants.
