| - The staff was more than just a bit rude. I found the guests to be much more pleasant and friendly than one single staff member. The party before us was taking an extraordinarily long time to check in, but we were patient and not at all bothered by this. The staff informed this party about their accommodations, where they could get complimentary "this" or "that", etc. When we got to the desk, the check in took a minute or less. We were told to have a nice stay and that was it. Ok.
So we go to our room. Not only was it kind of gross, but the restroom fan was not working. We had to keep the door ajar to dissipate steam from the shower, etc. Not exactly pleasant in the heat that is Arizona. As far as gross... I am talking about old, faded and permanently soiled shower curtain, disgusting carpeting, pulled up or missing grouting, lumpy (but admittedly comfortable) beds. My husband described it as an overpriced Motel 6 (and he was referring to the 20th century Motel 6s, not the new "upscaled" ones, lol). It just seemed very old and decayed - some of the room seemed refurbished, such as the tiling in the restroom, but otherwise it was old and nasty.
Once at breakfast, the restaurant greeter, again, was rude. The breakfast buffet itself was rather gross. The scrambled eggs were watery and had some other substance in them (? It seemed like maybe hard cooked egg white, but it had the appearance and texture of of a bamboo shoot). The bacon was greasy (how hard is it to let the bacon drain, or to dab it dry?). The oatmeal was overcooked and gluey. The bananas were brown and rotten. Some of the potato cakes were stale (hard as a rock on the outside, mushy and uncooked on the inside). Half the fruit was inedible. It was really just gross and not very much to choose from (besides the above, there was sausage, yogurt, muffins and the like). It was more like a continental breakfast than a buffet. I would expect more for $15 a pop.
I would not stay here again if you paid me.
