| - My favorite cheap grocery store! It's open 24 hours (similar to Wal-Mart across the street). This place has rock-bottom prices on everything you could need.
PROS:
-Very cheap prices, similar to a big-box bulk store (Costco, Sam's Club) without the required bulk purchase. Sometimes, even cheaper than Walmart.
-Open 24 hours a day, for when you just need that 2AM bowl of Trix.
-Good for non-perishable items.
-They have bulk candy, grains, popcorn, etc available. You just fill and weigh your own bag and pay for it.
-Plenty of parking
-Across the street from Sprouts, where you can fulfill your fresh produce needs.
CONS:
-They accept cash, debit, or food stamps only.
-Self-checkout is only available after 7AM.
-Hard liquor is sold in a separate area in the front of the stores and the hours are similarly limited.
-Produce is very limited and not the freshest.
-This is only a con if you're lazy and/or otherwise unable to bag your own groceries. Even at a cashier check-out, you will need to bag your own things.
-Unlike wal-mart, their toiletries, school-supplies, and non-food items are usually very overpriced.
Overall, I liked to go to this Winco as part of my grocery store rotation. I don't think that it would serve as a be-all, end-all place for my grocery needs, but prices were very reasonable and a good choice for a poor grad student.
