Walking into Defalco's feels like Marty McFly stepping out of the DeLorean and walking into 1950's Hill Valley. Most of the menu offerings are right out of any Brooklyn corner italian deli circa 1950. This place is the antithesis of a soulless corporate chain.
I prefer the hot sandwiches - today's lunch was an eggplant parm sandwich (about $8) on a crusty roll. To tell you the truth - just about everything/anything tastes awesome when placed on a toasted roll and smothered with thick marinara and melted mozzerella - but even so - the eggplant parm was awesomely great. Happiness on a plate.
My only complaint is the randomness of line/wait time to order - which can vary from zero (today, Monday at 11:50 am) to seemingly forever. The wait time is so unpredictable - about half the time I pop in at lunchtime I immediately turn around 'cause I don't have 15+ minutes to kill waiting to order. But of course - that line tells you everything you need to know about this place. The people have (correctly) spoken, and they gives two thumbs up to Defalco's. One of my 'regular' lunch spots - and it should be one of yours, too.
