This place was totally surprising to me. I was like wait...XLB...in Pittsburgh? What?
Also, I happen to love the name. Tian Tian Jian Mian. It totally made me giggle.
In any case, I dined here one weekend while I was visiting friends who are local. We got the pork XLB, noodle soup (I got lamb, she got pickled mustard greens with pork) and the beef scallion roll. Had there been more of us, I'd have ordered more of the smaller stuff but I guess I will have to save those for a future visit.
The food came out quickly and it was all very good. The skins of the XLB were just right -- not too thick or too thin so that they break and you lose the precious liquid gold, I mean, soup.
The lamb noodles in consomme needed some extra kick - so you do have to ask for chili oil as it is not readily accessible on the table.
All in all, a true gem in Pittsburgh land. I'd happily return.
