I went for a new patient appointment. The wait was not long initially but only because they do your appointment in stages where the tech does 90% of it and the Dr does about 10% of it. The paperwork had my name printed wrong and all of a sudden that became my fault. I had to be clear about wanting a glasses script and a contact lens fitting. My insurance paperwork (that I brought with me) said a contact lens fitting would be covered but I had to specifically ask that it be pre-approved. I wanted a contact lens fitting. The nurse went out of her way to ask the contact lens nurse to get a pre-approval in order for that to be done. Dr. Hustead barely looked at me, did not introduce herself, and did not address the contact lens fitting. She just re-wrote the script on the box of lenses I gave her to show her what I had been wearing. I assumed she was going to do her own assessment for my contacts since I specifically asked for it and gotten the pre-approval. I asked her about doing the PD distance and writing it for me and she quite abruptly told me she doesn't do that, the tech does and there is an additional fee for it. So much for customer service. I felt like I was just there with everyone else getting shuffled through so they could get my insurance payment. I understand it was the end of the day. I understand the office was running behind (but really when is one not running behind). Let's just say bedside manner is less than desirable I saw Dr. Hustead for all of 5 minutes. I just hope my script is right. I'll look for another eye dr.
