| - I grew up in Charlotte, but for some reason had never heard of the restaurant (what a shame). Stopped in today with my dad to grab a bite to eat for lunch and I must say I am a fan. Yes, it is a southern comfort food concept, but it doesn't feel like an outdated place. The vibe is some sort of traditional chic, hard to describe, but I like it.
Their menus is actually pretty varied plenty of vegetarian options and meat options and they had like 4 specials of the day! I ended up getting the vegetable plate with collards, kale/garbanzo salad, daily soup (ginger carrot), and mac and cheese. The plate also came with a biscuit and deviled egg. A lot of food for $8.00 and I was impressed that it was all fresh. Often when you get comfort food it is heavy and greasy, but everything here was pretty light - even the biscuit was light and fluffy!
Oh and the carrot soup I mentioned, the carrot soup was to die for...seriously. I might have to drive back down there later this evening and get a bowl or two to go!
This will be my go to place for Americana for the next few weeks! Oh and they are progressive in the causes they support, something I can get on board with!
