| - Had the feel of a tired old steakhouse, even though I've been anticipating a visit to Del Frisco's after many visits to LV in the past, we finally went while we were visiting during last year's LVI tournament. Perhaps I was expecting too much after placing DF's on a pedestal, and once I found out that it was a chain, I had already placed it in the same class as a Ruth's Chris or a Morton's. No knocking any of these places but I had already wondered if it was going to be any good without being held under higher scrutiny like it would if it were located within a large hotel on the strip (i.e. they would have more to answer to)...
For such a highly rated steakhouse, I was expecting something fantastic, but everything felt mediocre and flat, the food, the service, everything; there were no extenuating wow factors that I could remember. I remember feeling a bit hovered over by the small army of servers, it seemed like everyone from the wait staff to the maitre d'hotel were interested in how well our meal was going, like it was part of a script. When they brought out the food, they did it in force with 3 or 4 people as was likewise the case when they cleared the table. It reminded me of the scene in "Back to the Future" where all the gas station attendants rushed to help the car that had pulled up in the full service line. I don't want to sound like I didn't appreciate the attention but it was a bit overwhelming, even patronizing actually. A reviewer had mentioned that the service was obsequious and I can understand where they were coming from...
The food was ok, but that's all. There was nothing wrong but it all felt a little ordinary, particularly in the presentation. When we ordered a pair of tomahawks, that's what we got: a couple of hunks of meat on a plate each http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/del-friscos-double-eagle-steak-house-las-vegas-2?select=1UvX8lVe7ELO41TKUUv2Ew#6ce1KEjWiS7SCAawNtnoCw. Again, the server would stand there and ask you to cut into the meat to make sure the preparation and color temperature was to your liking http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/del-friscos-double-eagle-steak-house-las-vegas-2?select=1UvX8lVe7ELO41TKUUv2Ew#GHOGKPtodnKfcJiXW0E82Q -- talk about pressure to respond. But then again, I think they do the same to everyone so it's more about following protocol than actually having a personal stake (no pun intended) in asking...
Actually, I don't recall if they asked my wife if she liked her dish, Beef Medallions with chateau potatoes and red wine demi glace, but she would confide to me that she later that she thought the presentation was horrible and terribly pedestrian. I would venture to say that she expected more but probably bit her tongue about displaying her disappointment...

The sides were ok too, but uninteresting to look at. The Lobster Mac & Cheese http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/del-friscos-double-eagle-steak-house-las-vegas-2?select=1UvX8lVe7ELO41TKUUv2Ew#bK7v5hTxNrI8L5bq3XBdkA had lobster meat that was chopped so fine that it went AWOL, The Asparagus http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/del-friscos-double-eagle-steak-house-las-vegas-2?select=1UvX8lVe7ELO41TKUUv2Ew#57TUP_OG9oVuXY9jyJ7Bng was alright but bland, and the Sauteed Mushrooms http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/del-friscos-double-eagle-steak-house-las-vegas-2?select=1UvX8lVe7ELO41TKUUv2Ew#kKx7_h7rYPm0QxOT_ZFHOw were watery. The chopped salad looked more like a wet slaw http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/del-friscos-double-eagle-steak-house-las-vegas-2?select=1UvX8lVe7ELO41TKUUv2Ew#VW0JhBfhDTaIgdLYV_iDqA. At least the signature VIP vodka's were stiff and strong, even with the presence of fresh pineapple in them...

The James Bond table turned out to be little more than a cheesy tourist attraction relegated to a side room near the entry http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/del-friscos-double-eagle-steak-house-las-vegas-2?select=1UvX8lVe7ELO41TKUUv2Ew#MPcAmrFLZprZIx6BftiUUQ. Embarrassing to have such a noise maker in the restaurant, and I'm a fan of the Sean Connery Bond series...

We left with doggie bags in tow, but I don't remember what we did with them since we were on holiday. Like most of dinner, unmemorable unfortunately...
