rev:text	I always thought Garde Manger was good but after our recent meal there it's not ascended into the ranks of the Montreal greats. Their seafood platter is among the best I've ever had, the lobster, razor clams and oysters are phenomenal (if standard), but it's the various smoked fishes and other tasty bits really bring it to the next level. Service is insanely good, informal and friendly but so very on the ball. We did the tasting menu with wine pairings and we never had an empty glass once, the food showed up at the same time for everyone, and despite the restaurant being packed our server never felt like he was rushing with us. Mains included an incredible pork shoulder on cheesy potatoes that sounds boring but made me make a sex face in front of my mother in law it was so good. Most of their food is like this - on paper nothing special but through ingredients and preparation elevated to superhuman levels. Not sure what's changed recently but it's a different restaurant than last time I was here a year ago. Only nitpick is that around 10 on the weekend the bar fills up with friends of the restaurant and things get pretty party. I'd be pissed if I spend $500 and had to deal with people doing shots, yelling at each other and standing around with their butts in my face (we were a table over from the action so had a buffer) - but that's part of the ambiance - they also play 80's hair metal and gangster rap, sometimes that's just the price you gotta pay...
