| - We received a gift certificate to eleven for a special occasion, and were very excited to try the upscale member of the Big Burrito family. For those who aren't aware, the Big Burrito restaurant group comprises many of Pittsburgh's popular restaurants - Kaya, Mad Mex, Casbah, etc.).
We made what my dinner partner called an "AARP reservation" (dinner at 5 PM on a Thursday), and eagerly arrived at 4:45. Someone took our coats as we came in, and even as some of the first people there, we already loved the ambiance. Service was excellent - my water glass was never less than half full. They offered us drinks immediately, and we tried a pomegranate & egg-white cocktail that was absolutely delicious without being overly sweet. My dinner partner is gluten free, and we had called ahead to inform the restaurant. Everyone seemed to be aware upon our arrival, and we were promptly guided towards safe menu options. We ordered a foie gras appetizer with Calvados prunes - deliciously browned, and very unique - along with a yellowtail sashimi appetizer with uni foam. The portions were relatively small, but not out of place for a restaurant of this type.
We decided to split a salmon entree on a bed of roasted root vegetables. One of the best-cooked, most flavorful salmon entrees I have ever enjoyed. The fish was fresh and perfectly seasoned, and the accompaniments were tasty and balanced. We split a raspberry macaron and creme brûlée for dessert, and it couldn't have been more delicious.
Overall, a satisfying, wonderful meal, and one I would love to experience again.
