Cox is quite possibly the only company that could make me think that Century Link has good customer service. I signed up with Cox 2 or 3 years ago and had no problems. I had paid my account in full and verified that they had everything they needed. However I switched to century link when the promotional period expired. After 13 months I came back to Cox. When I cancelled to move out of state, they decided to charge me for equipment from the first account. Equipment that I do not have. Further, they got upset, yelling at me that I need to have a receipt for a modem to prove it is mine before they will remove the charge for equipment that they acknowledged was mine over 2 years ago.
When I called to dispute the issue I was transferred around more times than I can count. I eventually got to speak to a supervisor, or at least some incompetent individual claiming to be a supervisor. When I asked to speak to the manager, I was transferred back down to th general customer service employees. Then I somehow ended up in the troubleshooting department who transferred me back to billing. I have spent over an hour on the phone trying to resolve this issue but cannot get in contact with a single competent employee.
In sum, if you go through Cox, you better use their modem. If they are going to charge you for it anyways, you may as well get some benefit from it.
