  • Okay, if we are all honest when we go to places we are expecting more of an experience than just the specific thing we have come for. So, for argument sake, let's take everything out of the equation except for the coffee when talking about Boxcar. Of all the places in Toronto I could argue, and validly so, that this is the best coffee you can get in the city of Toronto. Yes De Mello, Early Bird, Sam James, and others make incredible brew, but this place is for real. Bringing in some of the best Roasters in North America and the world REALLY HELPS. If good coffee starts with the bean, then bringing in incredible beans is a must. They bring in George Howell (Boston), Heart Roasters (Portland), 49th Parallel (Vancouver), The Barn (Berlin), and many others. Not only do they bring them in, but they make the roasters proud. Take The Barn for example. For a roaster that JUST STARTED exporting to North America and being one of the best in the world, they give their beans to Boxcar. Why? Because they make GOOD coffee. Listen, yes, they could do things better other than coffee, but for the coffee, it's GOOD, it's the best. Some may scoff at the prices, but this is how much the coffee costs. If you want a cheaper brew there are many places around the area, but the prices aren't much more than any other good places in the area. That's it! 5 stars for me for the coffee. The best deserves the best rating.
