| - I've been doing business with Jiffy Lube shops across the country regularly for the last 24 years, ever since their early days in the early 90's in Houston, Texas.
I read the bad reviews here and decided to come anyway about 6 months ago. Big mistake.
First off, I noticed the $19.99 oil change special on the window and said I wanted that. The guy came off really sleazy and said, "That's only for first time. You've been here before right?" I said, "No, I haven't (honestly)." He goes, "Alright!" with a bummed-out look.
When they changed the oil, they increased the price. I said, "What happened to the 19.99 special?" He did some quick typing on the computer and the price went back down. He didn't explain why the price dropped even when asked. He only replied, "That's the price (now)."
They tried to sell me fake services. I initially read they loosen battery wires on other cars and didn't want to believe it, telling customers they need a battery change. I couldn't believe Jiffy Lube does that.
Well guess what, they told me I need a battery change. I said no. And the car wouldn't start in the morning. I checked and found out they loosen the battery wires. Sleazy. Their purpose was to get you to come back and get the battery replacement. What if this was someone who didn't know anything about cars and was unable to make it to work on time? And had to have it towed to repair shop and waste days and money to get it fixed?
Sleaziest Jiffy Lube shop I've been to and if you google Jiffy Lube scams, you'll see at many locations they don't even do the services such as oil change but only pretend to do it. Not sure if they even do the work here.
The demeanor of the staff here come across as con-artists. Just a bad feeling in your gut when you talk to these guys.
There are great Jiffy Lube shops but this ain't it.
