| - Starved for caffeine between work shifts, I would have walked right past Vallena had it not been for the amusing sidewalk-sign art. Both co-founders were present when I dropped in. They're extremely friendly and have put serious effort into every aspect of this hidden gem that only opened two weeks ago.
I had a drip coffee and oatmeal-raisin cookie. Both were delicious. They offer a lot more: espresso, several types of tea, bottled drinks, sandwiches, and all kinds of freshly baked goods--muffins, croissants, cake slices, éclairs, and macarons.
Wi-Fi and power outlets make this an excellent place to work. It's a solid date venue as well. There are stools facing Carlton Street, free-standing tables, and a couch. The bathroom is huge, spotless, and wheelchair-accessible.
The place is very spacious, but wasn't very busy during lunch hour on a weekday. This is unacceptable. Everyone in the vicinity needs to check this place out. They're doing everything right.
