| - 3.5 stars. New York Nails is, hands down, the cheapest place in Pittsburgh to get nail services (even with their recent price hike, they are still the cheapest). With the low price tag, you don't get many frills, so don't expect a spa-like atmosphere or any 'extras' (no free coffee, etc.). It is pretty clean for the most part, but sometimes I wonder how thoroughly they sanitize everything given the volume of people coming in and out.
Pros: Lots of skilled nail techs (I like Rosy for acrylics and Tee for pedicures). I would be fine going to anyone for a pedicure, spacious and easy to get an appointment, massive color selection, up on the latest nail trends (e.g. chrome powder, dipping powder, etc.).
Cons: I often have to wait 15-20 minutes after my scheduled appointment time, salon is not relaxing and can even be stressful if it is crowded, language barrier with some technicians, no private parking lot.
You can pay with a credit card, but tips are cash only.
The quality coupled with the $10 savings per visit compared to the nail places in my neighborhood keep me driving across town to New York Nails.
