  • Being part of the Cosmopolitan raised the bar pretty high in terms of expectations. We decided to walk in because it was just before lunch time and figured it would be easy to get a table. Place was pretty empty when we got there, but the hostess gave us the impression that we were somewhat intruding. The interior design of the restaurant quickly helped get past the awkward arrival. In terms of food, as the title suggests you have a pretty large variety of burgers, shakes and beer - make sure you try their signature lager, I loved it. A really nice touch was that we received a small complimentary bucket of popcorn. As a starter we went with the Poutine. Canadians would have lost their mind (in case you don't know, they are defensive of this dish): thinly cut fries and crunchy all the way, gravy on the side & some tasteless shredded short rib. I don't mind the gravy on the side bit but I wouldn't have ordered it if I had known I would be getting regular fries with cheese and some poorly seasoned meat on top. For the main dish I decided to go with the signature Gold Standard and my wife went with The Classic. We asked both the burgers to be medium but we were in for a surprise. In a city like Vegas you can't ask a person how they would like their meat to be cooked and then get it wrong. My burger was medium-well (emphasis on the well) which I can accept. But the fact that my wife's one was rare all the way I can't. I'm surprised she didn't want to send it back. I cannot complain about the overall taste of the burger - the bacon and smoked goat cheddar really bring it to the Gold Standard. There was another small incident that bugged me. The waiter that was responsible for collecting empty glassware was a bit over zealous. He first came to our table and reached for the popcorn bucket which was still half full and my wife was still enjoying it. He did ask if he could take it but with the hand already onto it. Because of the noise he understood that we were ok with him taking it. That really wasn't a problem because it can happen to any of us, but what came next really annoyed me. I still had 2 fingers worth of beer in my glass and in a slight moment in which I wasn't paying attention he came again and took the glass without asking. By the time I realized that he had taken it he was already too far. I found this to be impolite and unprofessional. The devil is in the details guys and unfortunately I was expecting both the food and the quality of service to excel. I'm not trying to discourage anyone from having a meal here. The interior design is really nice and the food was tasty. It's just the small details I outlined which shaved off 2 stars off my review. I will be back and update my review in case it was just a bad day.
