  • Oh my GOSH if I could give more stars I would....Five does not do it justice!! Let me start from the beginning. I have wanted a large bird for a long time (think Macaw). So we started going to bird stores and there is one in the valley I've been to a couple of times. I like to think I'm a decent person so I won't put them on blast here, BUT both times I went there I fell in love with the same bird. (I didn't realize it at the time) but I could never play with him and he's never for sale he's a "shop" bird. In fact...all the birds I fell in love with seemed to be not for sale. For a bird store, that concerned me. Their prices were pretty high and the sales people weren't that friendly. So I googled bird stores, and Tropic Zone came up. It was kind of far, but on line it said that you can "test drive" the birds, WHAT??? I can actually touch them?! I was sold. So we went out there to check them out and it was a bird haven. Birds EVERYWHERE. Now at the time I went it was feeding time, You see, they breed an hand feed / raise there so they were busy. I patiently waited and they started showing me birds. To my immediate dismay they brought out a Parakeet. My heart sunk. I didn't want a tiny bird. I had had several parakeets before and I realize now the reason they were not good pets was because they were sold from a box chain store. She instantly stole my heart. She wasn't the normal green / blue color. She was a pastel green very pretty. She sat on me the whole time and nuzzled me and preened me. I was smitten. I purchased her that day BUT I couldn't bring her home because she hadn't weaned yet. But that was amazing because that proves that they aren't just after the dollar. I decided to call them a couple days early and check on Sprite (that's what we named her) and they took the time to call BOTH feeders to check on her status. They both confirmed that she had been weaned. So I got to go get her. Tropic Zone is friendly and amazing, not only did they do an amazing job with my feather baby, but they give you discounts if you buy your bird there. When we walked out, Dawn had gifted us the cutest travel cage...I was speechless. They even gave us a GENEROUS amount of their special blends of seeds / pellets and some millet to get her started, even though they knew I had purchased that stuff from them already. I'm not lying when I say I had tears in my eyes. These are the best people in the world! I will NEVER go to any other bird store again, I don't care if I move to NY. lol. Their prices are un beatable. They make sure you fit with your bird and vice versa. They are knowledgeable, sweet and caring. They make their own toys and have a section where YOU can make your toys too. I am a life long customer I promise that! Thank you Tropic Zone (and Dawn especially xoxo)
